Support guide

Turn transaction rows into a useful budget.

Review imported matches, finish uncategorised entries, and split purchases that belong in more than one category.

Open and review transactions

Press ⌘3 to open Transactions. Start with uncategorised entries, then review suggested matches instead of assuming every suggestion is correct. Consistent categories make Home totals, Weekly Overview, and reports more useful.

Use ⌘F to search the transaction list. Add a missing transaction with File > New Transaction or ⇧⌘N.

Split a mixed purchase

  1. Find the transaction in the transaction list.
  2. Right-click it and choose Split….
  3. Enter each portion and assign the appropriate category.
  4. Confirm the split and check that the portions represent the original transaction.

A supermarket purchase might be split between Groceries and Household, for example. If the original transaction was marked as business, its split portions retain the business flag.

Copy rows into another app

Transaction and report tables can copy tab-separated rows that paste cleanly into Numbers, Excel, or a text document:

  1. Select the required rows, or press ⌘A to select all visible rows.
  2. Press ⌘C.
  3. Paste into the destination app.

When nothing is selected, the current table view may be copied as a whole. Check the destination before sharing because copied rows can contain private financial details.

When categories keep coming back wrong

Edit the category’s tags and rebuild suggestions from Home. For recurring clear-cut descriptions, use Suggest More or Always Assign carefully. The suggestions guide explains the difference.
